Pod Life

House hunting's quite a process, with lots of turns and twists,
Like other buyers, mortgages, and keeping thorough lists!
But (knock on wood) if things go well, when all is said and done,
We'll have more room to call our own (and for a dog to run!)

Make way for Moms

To all my friend's Moms
And all my Mom friends
(And also to cows, does, ewes, mares, and hens)

Today is the day
To celebrate you
And the guiding, the teaching, and loving you do!

All through the house...

There's a bundle of sweets that I dream of all year,
With Christmas upon us, it's time they appear.

Pizzelles—how crispy! Torrone, so apropos...
Ambrosia like clouds, wandi like a bow!

Now away to the kitchen I must swiftly dash
Before all the desserts are gone in a flash!

Heading into Halloween

Inspired by my new pursuit
(And hankering for candied loot)
On this nearing Day of the Dead
I'm looking forward to what's ahead!

Foiled Again!

Pastel M&Ms, rainbow jelly beans,
Marshmallow Peeps and Cadbury Cremes
Are straightforward candies with nothing to hide,
Genuine sweets with no will to misguide.

But that mystery chocolate all covered in foil?
All I can know is: it's not been hard boiled.
Is it milk chocolate? Caramel? So much in doubt!
I guess I'll just have to give in and find out...

Happy Easter candy time!

Three Little Words: So Much Snow!

Buried and bound under 6 feet of snow,
With temperatures flirting with 20 below,
I could shovel my car out, but I’d just as soon
Draw an oxpecker perched on a rhino cartoon.

Ghost busters

In the air
on the road
Chicago, LA
with a cold

Here's all I have
up my sleeve
on this busy
All Saint's Eve

Shhheaster

Let's say you're a pig farmer on the way to sell your stock
But you have not one more swine and so you cannot walk the talk
You might just fill your sack with something other than a pig
Hoping that not one buyer will catch you in your jig
But if a faint "meow" does raise someone's red flag
Then your impostor pig has been let out of the bag.

And if you're a voting member of a club in ancient Greece,
You use a colored bean to cast your vote to keep the peace,
White for "yes" and brown for "no," placed in a secret jar,
That way new members never know how many votes there are.
Unless, of course, you happen to knock over the bean pot
In which case your own membership will likely soon be not.

And so concludes my tutelage on idioms today;
Here's hoping that your cat and (jelly) beans don't get away!

How to Train your Cupid

When it comes to love-laced arrows, accuracy is key.
Lest an untrained Cupid send us barking up a mismatched tree!
