Bird Brain

I drew this comic in celebration of being offered the position of student activities coordinator with the MIT Energy Initiative (aka, MITEI, pronounced 'mighty'!) I am really looking forward to working with students again, at my alma mater, and in a fairly newly established program with globally important goals. My role in the program will include providing guidance to energy and sustainability student groups, helping to organize student leadership events, and coordinating student/faculty relationships for relevant research projects.

Fourth of July

I cannot believe it's already July!
Spring here in Boston always seems to fly by.
But I guess with the Celtics' spectacular scores,

And the restaurants' wide open patio doors,
It's no wonder I haven't kept track of the time.

...SO, while my comic has little to do with this rhyme,
I wish you a Fourth that's an absolute blast!

Let's hope it's not over and done with so fast...

(Coincidentally, I'll be in NYC this year for the 4th. But I'll be driving, so I can bring my torch if I darn well please.)

Easter

I had thought the bunny should say something in return (friends had suggested some great quips about diversifying one's portfolio, for example), but Easter approached so quickly this year that I didn't have time to incorporate the additional quote. Thus it is left to the reader exactly WHAT the chicken said about the situation.

For Sydney

Sydney is the 4 year old daughter of a friend of mine, who asked if I could draw her "2 turtles that are saying something to each other." So cute.

Christmas 2007

Sometimes I feel bad for the tree when it has to support so many ornaments that have been collected over so many years...

OZA Christmas 2007

Based on the equivalent human universal, this comic was drawn for OZA's holiday card.

Halloween 2007

The leaves on the Common are beginning to thin,
as the beauty of fall in Boston sets in,
while the crisp and cool October air
makes my bike ride to work quite a teary affair.

The Sox won the series in a fantastic sweep,
and now I can finally get a decent night's sleep...
The parade passed right by where I work yesterday--
what an outrageous, outstanding, outspoken soirée!

Speaking of work, as you can see from my sketch,
I've been researching chips for quite a long stretch.
It's been fun, it's been grand, to be sure a good time,
but by now I just wish they'd get out of my mind!

Here's hoping that you will enjoy a fine treat,
on this Halloween day when the snacks are all sweet!

When you work on so many projects researching consumers' thoughts and feelings about salty snacks, they start to appear in your hobbies. We even did a potluck lunch in the office with a particular cheesy triangular chip a few months back. I still have nightmares about that.
